What’s the proper use of drones?

Steve Conder has flown unmanned aircraft, commonly known as drones, for two years on his 20-acre property in Medina. Since he operates drones as a hobby, and not for business, he doesn’t need formal training or federal certification. That didn’t stop Conder from attending Wadsworth Municipal Airport’s first drone school Saturday. The all-day session cost $300 and taught students drone operations, federal drone regulations, the National Airspace System and even a little about the weather. “Anybody can buy a drone for $30 at Wal-Mart,” Conder said. “It’s a good idea to have as much knowledge about them and our airspace as possible.” The drone school was offered by AeroTrek Flight Academy, which trains pilots, and Flight Services of Wadsworth, both affiliated with the airport.
